Social support is defined as support in social relationships, and it plays an important role in maintaining healthy behavior and reducing the impact of stressors. This study investigated the relationship between the functional aspects of social support and mortality. The results suggest that a lack of social support in relation to transportation to the hospital is independently associated with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease mortality in the local population.
