The purpose of the study was to estimate the prevalence of specific reading disability(RD) among primary school children in Japan. The target population was children attending public primary school in sendai city. The prevalence of specific RD in Japanese primary school children was again found to be around 1%, showed no particular change.(仙台市立小学校児童52,732名を母集団とする読み書き障害の頻度を調べた。その結果、知的障害がなく、「文の音読」が「やや困難」もしくは「困難」な者は1.7%、それに加えて国語が「2年以上遅れがある」者は0.5%であった。)
