In this paper, I first review argument ellipsis in Japanese, a language relatively well-studied by Oku (1998), Saito (2007), and Takahashi (2007, 2008, 2014). Then, I put Burmese to a diagnostic test based upon a Japanese model by Takahashi (2014) to examine whether Burmese allows argument ellipsis. I confirm that as in Japanese, no arguments in Burmese agree with functional heads and that Burmese possesses the three characteristics of argument ellipsis. The results suggest that null arguments in Burmese can be analyzed as argument ellipsis.
