There are two approaches on Chinese missing object: one is Huang’s PF deletion approach. He argues that the missing object is a null VP ellipsis, and he hypothesizes that the lexical verb is moved from V to INFL, and then the VP is deleted. And the other is Aoun and Li’s LF copy approach. They claim that the missing object is subcategorized by the head verb, which is called a V-construction. Besides, only the missing object, which is subcategorized by head verbs, can be interpreted.
