“Serious games” are a genre of video games designed not only for entertainment but also for educational and medical applications. Kinect (made by Microsoft) is a game device which captures the movements of the subject with an infrared camera, and reflects those movements on screen. At present, we have developed and are carrying out a program for improving motor abilities of the elderly by using Kinect. Since it enables even passive elderly persons to enjoyably continue participating in exercise, we report on the potential of this as a new technique for exercise therapy.(簡易型動作解析センサーを用いて高齢者用の運動ゲームソフトウェアを開発し、その介入前後の比較を行った。結果、筋力の向上は認めたが、平衡機能に関しては差が生じなかった)
