Scaling questions (SQ) are a method of questioning in SFA that elicits exceptions to a problem using a number line from 0 to 10 points. However, resistance to the use of SQs may occur, such that solution talk does not proceed. This can be seen as a mismatch situation between the client and the SQ design.
The SQ is designed with elements such as line segments, points, minimum values, maximum values, scales, and units. It is hoped that by redesigning these elements, resistance can be overcome.
