Risk factors for health care-associated pneumonia: Transmission of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from general hospitals to nursing homes

According to the American Thoracic Society/Infectious Diseases Society of America (ATS/IDSA) guidelines, risk factors of health care-associated pneumonia (HCAP) include multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, residence in a nursing home, and others. Recently, because of the shortening of the hospitalization period, elderly patients requiring prolonged hospitalization must enter a nursing home. There are many cases in which residents of nursing homes are constantly in and out of nearby hospitals.
